Role Overview

As an Application Engineer within our Fabrication Team, you will design and support the creation of custom fluid system assemblies. You'll work closely with both internal stakeholders and customers to translate technical needs into efficient, safe, and cost-effective solutions. This hybrid role blends engineering design, hands-on assembly work, and customer collaboration to deliver tailored solutions that exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities


🔧 Technical & Production Support

  • Design and validate custom fluid assemblies using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
  • Solve technical issues related to parts, functionality, and layout.
  • Support fabrication, quoting, and production teams with timely technical input.
  • Ensure all drawings meet Swagelok quality, manufacturability, and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to improving production workflows and layout.

🛠️ Hands-on Assembly & Testing

  • Assemble customer-specific solutions using hand tools, automated equipment, and orbital welding systems (training provided).
  • Conduct functional tests based on customer specifications.
  • Take ownership of equipment calibration, maintenance, and certification related to welding and fabrication.

🤝 Customer Collaboration

  • Collaborate with customers to define technical specifications and offer reliable, cost-effective solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into CAD designs while integrating Swagelok best practices.
  • Provide proactive and reactive support to Customer Service Representatives and Sales Engineers to grow technical understanding and business value.

📈 Continuous Improvement & Learning

  • Participate in ongoing training via Swagelok University (minimum 20 hours/year).
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve assembly processes, quality, and safety.
  • Stay aligned with Swagelok Fabrication Policies and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

🗣️ Fluent Dutch & English OR French English

🎓 Education & Theoretical Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent by experience.
  • Solid understanding of industrial process techniques, CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks), and fluid systems.

🧠 Skills & Experience

  • Familiar with fluid system design and leak-tight assembly requirements.
  • Knowledge of safety aspects related to pressurized systems.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and open to learning new tools and technologies.
  • Able to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Hands-on skills in tube bending and system building are a strong plus.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Actively listens and collaborates with both customers and internal teams.

Working Environment

This is mostly an office based role with potential for some remote work

Training & Development

  • Full onboarding during the first year and advanced training in the second.
  • Continuous development via Swagelok University (20h/year minimum).
  • Certified training in SAP systems, assembly practices, orbital welding, and quality assurance.
