The war on Talent is OVER! 🤴

My colleague Frank Vander Sijpe and I spent the last few days in Le Touquet at the Réseau HR Square summit on the exciting subject of #EmployeeExperience (EX).
Is their anything to remember? 🧠

Denis Pennel from the World Employment Confederation
- The degree of engagement in Europe is pretty much in inverse proportion to the degree of “economic development & welfare”
👀 Romania is leading the way with a score of 33%, Belgium on 30th position with 11% and Italy last of the ranking (38th position) with 4%
- We are living a huge disconnect between employers and employee self-evaluation (all parties urgently need to reframe their thinking)

Marc Van Rymenant offered divergent views on how and why neuroscience can boost change & EX
- Bypassing the Frontal & Prefrontal cortex is likely to deliver more values when surveying employee experience (a/o to asking open or closed questions)
- Let’s stop engaging people as Homo Œconomicus but rather as Homo Sapiens made of emotions ❤
- EX is NOT about motivating people but removing negative emotions (first) 💥

Séverine Delehouzée: About the culture & employee engagement at Cofidis Belgium
- To create a culture of transparency they always invite a staff member 👩 at the board of directors and publicly release the minutes (1 version only)
- A team took the initiative to create a “Thank you” Christmas Tree inviting other staff to express gratitude
- Their customer service team DO NOT need authorisation anymore to extend customer discounts (they care so much that the level of discounts is lower than before) 🆒

Olivia Steiner: On how Iris care deeply for some of the least “corporately recognised” workers, yet essential to our world of work (cleaners, ...)
- They translate all communication in Arabic and Turkish (on top of FR/NL)
- They are constantly seeking meaningful ways to engage an extremely diverse workforce (some being illiterate 👴)
- They hire and retain migrants as well as refugees (so does IKEA Belgium with 80 people every year … as explained by Anne-Clotilde Picot)

Tom Dewaele: on the amazing EX at Google
- “We have to make every day simple so we can make special days truly special”
- 3️⃣ key pillars : Help me faster, Know me better, Wow me when it matters most!
- When it comes to engagement “we want less spaghetti and more lasagne”

🏳‍🌈 In short:
📢 EX is NOT an HR thing, it’s a matter for all.
📢 The Employee has become a customer
📢 The power of diversity & inclusion is more important than ever
📢 Leveraging EX as a common goal between union representatives and employer is a powerful collaboration
📢 Welcome to Homo Sapiens

The war on Talent is OVER!
📢 The Talent has WON

The war on Talent is OVER! 🤴
